Hi! My name is Jamie Kay and I am a “townie”! I have lived in the city of Charlottesville or one of the surrounding county for over 30 years. I am the Principal Broker/Owner of Brick & Mortar Realty. I started my own company in 2018 after holding an Associate Broker license with a different company for 5 years prior. I have always been an entrepreneur working in service industries and truly love helping people. A lot of people who know me say I am a jack of all trades. Prior to Real Estate, I owned and operated a full time wedding and portrait photography business, which I still do a little bit on the side. I also have been teaching at a local fitness studio, Pure Barre, for over 7 years, and find much joy in seeing people succeed in their goals. I’ve managed restaurants, designed websites, helped colleagues start businesses, and am a mama (hardest/most rewarding job of all). I am passionate about every project I am involved in, and live by “anything worth doing is worth doing well”.
When it comes to real estate, I try to bring fun energy to my clients and the process. I love the challenge of finding the perfect home for you, whether it be your first home, forever home, or an investment property. I really enjoy working with first time home buying clients as well as veterans, and helping everyone navigate the ever changing and sometimes extremely complicated home buying process! I actually love juggling all of the balls and then watching them fall into place at the settlement table!
I love (read am obsessed with) interior design. HGTV and I are very close. I love helping sellers list their homes and offering advice on how to make their homes more competitive in today’s market through staging or even renovations. Being local and knowing a lot of talented people in the area, I feel that I have a trusted team of local contractors, inspectors, artists, and craftsman I can tap into when needed to get you top dollar for your listing!
Of course, on a personal level, my family is the most important thing. We live on eleven beautiful acres in Troy, VA, just east of Charlottesville. My fiance is an LEO with the City of Charlottesville, and between us we have three kiddos ages 11, 11, and 4. We also have two horses, Banjo and Della, as well as two pups, Mac the Basset and Murphy (Mac has his own Instagram page if you’re so inclined @Mac.the.Basset – we love Murph the Yellow Lab too, but Mac is way more funny).
Whether you are looking to make a move, or just curious about the current Charlottesville area real estate market, I would welcome the opportunity to speak with you. Contact me at jamie@BrickandMortarVA.com to get started!
Jamie is a professional. She made the selling process comfortable and easy, in a market that is challenging in the price range at which my house was listed. I had worked with several agents in the area over the years and she is by far, the best. She is knowledgeable and confident and therefore inspires confidence and calm in her clients, especially in the negotiation phase of a sale. I wish I could have her as my agent in another state as I am now a buyer! She is fair, honest and is an advocate for her clients – regardless of which side she is representing – buyer or seller. I highly recommend her to anyone who is planning to sell OR buy a home. Jamie Kay and Brick & Mortar Realty are the gold standard in Charlottesville, VA.
Jamie was excellent. She made herself available to answer any of my countless questions. I felt a great deal of support and understanding from her, which helped me a lot during the process of buying my first home. She was very attentive and honest. She knows lots of people in real estate business in town and was able to connect me with an excellent mortgage broker and other professionals. She was quick to respond. I connected with her and the next day we were already going to see properties – amazing! I went from looking into buying a home to actually closing and moving in 1.5 month thanks to everyone working as a team and moving things alone quickly. I am very happy that I found Jamie! She even left me a sweet note and a gift card after closing, which was very thoughtful of her. I highly recommend Jamie!
